The Novus 300 and Novus 450 use the same filter set. Available as G4+G4 (standard) and G4+F7 (fine filter on the supply side), original or house brand.

Paul ISO Defroster DN 160

The ISO Defroster DN 160 sits in the outdoor air duct and has its own G4 filter. Many people forget this filter at change time – it should be replaced together with the unit filters.

How to choose the right Paul filter

1. Identify your unit: Novus, Climos and Focus have different filter dimensions – take the name from the rating plate.
2. Compare your old filters: Dimensions and filter class are usually printed on the filter frame.
3. Choose the filter class: The standard is G4 or M5 on both sides. With an F7 filter on the supply side the outdoor air is filtered much more finely – useful for pollen allergies or in the city.

What do G4, M5 and F7 mean?

• G4 (ISO Coarse): Coarse filter against house dust, fibres, insects and coarse pollen – protects the heat exchanger and fans.
• M5 (ISO ePM10): Medium filter that also captures finer pollen, mould spores and pet hair.
• F7 (ISO ePM1): Fine filter for the supply air that also removes fine dust, soot and very small particles from the outdoor air.

Original Paul filters or house brand?

Original Paul filters match the original equipment of your unit and are made in Europe. Our house brand is also made in the EU, has the same dimensions and filter classes and is the lower-cost alternative for regular changes. More: Filter alternatives or original filters?

When should you replace Paul filters?

We recommend a change every 3 to 6 months. In passive houses the ventilation runs around the clock – dirty filters increase power consumption and reduce airflow. Replace them sooner with pollen allergies, near roads, fields or building sites, and if the unit runs louder than usual. A proven rhythm is one change before the heating season in autumn and one before the pollen season in spring – and don’t forget the filter in the ISO Defroster.

Changing Paul filters – step by step

1. Switch off the ventilation unit at the control unit or disconnect it from the power supply.
2. Open the filter covers on the unit and pull out the old filters.
3. Note the direction of installation: an F7 filter always goes on the supply side (outdoor air).
4. Fit the new filters and close the covers.
5. Switch the unit on and reset the filter run time on the control unit.
